Leadership & Advocacy
Throughout my career, I’ve worked to improve systems that impact families, health, and well-being. While my passion for education drives my candidacy for school board, my experience in advocacy, public health, and civic leadership has equipped me with the tools to lead, listen, and deliver results.
Champion for Maternal Health

I’ve worked at the local and national level to address the maternal mortality crisis in the U.S., advocating for safer outcomes for all birthing people. As a survivor of a traumatic birth and postpartum hemorrhage, I’ve met with lawmakers on Capitol Hill, shared my story publicly, and collaborated on policies to improve maternal health equity. This work has shaped my deep belief in evidence-based, family-centered policy—and the need to listen to those most affected by our systems.
Chair, Commission on Health & Well-being
As Chair of the City of Chesapeake’s Commission on Health and Well-being, I lead initiatives that connect residents with vital services, address community health needs, and promote access to care. From organizing resource fairs to promoting the mission of Chesapeake Thrives, this work reflects my approach to leadership: listen first, lead with compassion, and build systems that serve people.

Health Educator and Policy Advocate

With a doctorate in health sciences and experience teaching in higher education, I’ve guided future healthcare professionals and supported adult learners. I’ve also participated in community-based research and served on advisory panels to address health disparities and improve access to care. I bring the same data-driven, equity-focused lens to every leadership role I take on.
My leadership outside the classroom has always centered on the same integrity, ambition, and values I’ll bring to the school board.
As a parent, professor, and advocate, I know how to build partnerships, navigate public systems, and turn ideas into action. I’m ready to bring that experience to the students, educators, and families of Chesapeake.
